Welcome to KCRC
The home of Knox County Radio Control
Knox County Radio Control Society, Inc. is an AMA-chartered club serving Knoxville, TN, and surrounding communities. Located in west Knox County on Williams Bend Road near Melton Hill Park, our field features a 345-foot paved runway on a scenic hilltop overlooking Melton Hill Lake. A covered pit area provides shelter from the elements, and numerous starting benches provide ample room for you to start your engines and work on your models.
From Hardin Valley Road off of Pellissippi Parkway (Highway 162), turn north onto Steele Road next to Hardin Valley Elementary School. Drive approx. 1 mile and turn left on Sam Lee Road. Sam Lee Road turns into Couch Mill Road, and about 1 mile after you turn onto Sam Lee, Couch Mill Road turns sharply to the left. Go straight at the turn. You're now on Williams Bend Road, and after about 2 miles, you'll see the entrance to KCRC on your right (directly across from the water treatment plant on the left).

RC flying is a lot of fun, but it also requires practice and patience. KCRC has excellent instructors to help you get started and provide free instruction. We do our training on buddy boxes to minimize the risk to your aircraft. Your transmitter is connected to the instructor's transmitter, and you have control of the aircraft when the instructor holds a spring-loaded switch. If you lose control, the instructor takes control back and restores the aircraft to the proper attitude. In the old days, beginners often crashed a lot of airplanes learning to fly. Today, most people earn their wings without losing a single aircraft!
Gas, glow, or electric, airplanes are our bread and butter at KCRC.
We have a strong contingent of heli pilots who are ready and willing to teach others their craft!
Do you love the smell of Jet A in the morning? Two of our members have turbine waivers and are eager to share their knowledge about big jets.
New to quadcopters and other drones? Learn how to fly them safely as well as competently.
Shoot us an e-mail, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
